The saya is lacquered in black kuro ishime nuri, with the kozuka slot inlaid with black lacquered samekawa. There are a few chips in the urushi around the kozuka slot, but these are easily repaired. The copper kozuka handle depicts a cricket and flowers, whilst the blade bears a Buddhist symbol, the sword of Fudo-Myo.
The tsuka is bound with tan tsukagawa, and the samekawa is lacquered with black urushi. The iron tsuba depicts a village with trees whilst the black menuki show some sort of flower.
Comments:
It would take very little - a polish and a little bit of urushi restoration - to reveal a very attractive sword.
