Blade:
Period: Showa.
Mei: Mumei.
Sugata: Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, tori-zori.
Overall length: 33.77 inches (858.00 mm)
Nagasa: 25.51 inches (648.00 mm) long.
Nakago: Ubu, 8.27 inches (210.00 mm), one mekugi-ana, sujikai yasurime, ha agari kurijiri.
Moto-haba: 1.21 inches (30.70 mm). Moto-gasane: 0.25 inches (8.90 mm). Saki-haba: 0.89 inches (22.50 mm). Saki-gasane: 0.29 inches (7.40 mm).
Chu-kissaki, 1.52 inches (38.60 mm). The boshi is difficult to see, but it is probably o-maru.
Sori: 0.70 inches (17.90 mm)
Hamon: Suguha
Hada: Not seen.
Blade condition: Out of polish. It looks as if someone was about to take a grinder to the blade, but fortunately they stopped before they left more than just a few scratches that could be removed by a polisher.
Mounts:
Naval tsuba and menuki, with leather saya cover, but otherwise it is in civilian mounts. It is possible that it was worn by a civilian employee of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The imitation same points to a possible late WW2 period. The tsuka-ito needs replacing.
Comments:
On commission. It handles nicely and would probably make a good martial arts sword.
