Period: Edo period, Kyoho era (1716-1736).
Mei: Hizen no kuni ju Munetada.
Sugata: Shinogi-zukuri, tori-zori, iori-mune.
Overall length: 27.00 inches (685.70 mm).
Nagasa: 20.87 inches (530.00 mm).
Nakago: Ubu, 6.13 inches (155.70 mm).
Kissaki: Chu kissaki, komaru boshi.
Moto-haba: 1.24 inches (31.40 mm). Saki-haba: 0.87 inches (22.00 mm). Moto-gasane: 0.30 inches (7.70 mm). Saki-gasane: 1.01 inches (5.60 mm).
Sori: 0.79 inches (20.00 mm).
Hamon: Suguha with nie-deki and Sunagashi. It is excellent hamon.
Hada: Mokume hada, with utsuri and chikei in the jitetsu.
Blade condition: In fresh polish and excellent condition. No ware or fatal flaws.
Mounts:
In shirasaya with sayagaki and 'falling rain' habaki. The sayagaki says: "Hizen no Kuni Munetada Saku Jidai kyoho koro Hirado Sa Nari nagasa 1 shaku 7 sun 5 bu ari Kaou." This translates as "Munetada, who lived in the country of Hizen, made this sword. Kyoho of the Edo era. Hizen Hirado Sa School.
Blade length is 1 shaku 7 sun 5 bu." 1 shaku 7 sun 5 bu is equal to 53.0 cm
