Why fit reproduction fittings?
It frequently happens that you have some fittings for the project, but it proves impossible to find matching antique fittings. This is particularly true if you are trying to create a dai-sho. So what do you do? Do you shelve the project until some miracle brings the needed antique fittings to your attention at a price that you can afford, do you save until you can afford some custom fittings made by someone trained in Japanese metalworking traditions, or do you go for exact copies of antique fittings?
